DAIKONYAMA 代官山 SHIBUYA, TOKYO - TRAIN AND TAXI
10x8
An onslaught of modernity from either side. My parents lived in Tokyo in the mid 60’s, in a sleepier Daikonyama (“Radish Hill,” in Japanese). This fun neighborhood is still pretty close to the center of Tokyo, but outside of the major bustle of the city. Nowadays, it’s a fashion hub with expensive boutiques, bookstores, restaurants, clubs, and small groomed dogs. I took video and photos for my parents, who actually went back around ten years ago. Still, they didn’t really recognize much of what I captured, since most of the buildings from the 60’s have been replaced.
Old and new, nestle together naturallly.
